How do we prevent our most essential information from becoming public knowledge? How do government secrets stay safe? This is the work of cryptography. Without cryptography, the world would grind to a halt. Cryptographers are the critical gatekeepers of national security secrets, vital codes, and more. Essentially, they are communicating through secret writing. Cool, right?

Student Comments from Summer 2023

‘I thought the program was very interesting, engaging and fun. It had lots of educational and hands-on activities. Mr. Monz did an excellent job teaching, making sure that everyone understood the content, and having an excellent class environment. Overall amazing.’

I enjoyed the hands-on codebreaking and the teacher explained the concepts really well and produced a comprehensive lesson every day.’

The class focused on cryptography throughout history, dating all the way back to ancient Rome, which I personally found very interesting. This also provided a simple and clear way of segueing into more modern and complex forms of cryptography. The teacher, John, was also very engaging and vibrant which made the course far more enjoyable.’
