Business schools can be some of the most competitive to get into, so don’t just rely on your stellar grades to get accepted. Take advantage of this opportunity to get an introduction to topics in business and add valuable credentials to your college applications.
In this program, students will gain an understanding of actuarial science and learn the math, economics, and finance skills needed to become an actuary. They will also dive into accounting and get an excel 101 lesson. Then it’s into the hot new topic of cryptocurrency, where students will find out what exactly crypto is and how it’s used. On the topic of currency, students will then learn all about payroll and the state and federal requirements that business owners must follow. After that, students will move onto taxes and quickbooks and create their own sample bank account to explore topics including expense labeling, income, audits, and tax planning. Next it’s a mini marketing lesson where students will create their own marketing plan and social media pages for their business. After that it’s time for students to map out their business plan, including revenue projections, operations, and leadership and management.
This program is perfect for students who are interested in a career in business, but don’t yet know which discipline to specialize in, because they will receive an introduction to many! Register now before seats are filled!

Instructor: Peter Sullivan
Mr. Sullivan is a teacher at Middlesex School, a top prep school. He previously taught at the University of Puget Sound, as an assistant professor of economics, teaching courses in macroeconomics and international economics. A graduate of Noble and Greenough School, he received his undergraduate and master’s degrees in economics from the University of New Hampshire. While earning his Ph.D. at UNH, Peter was a graduate teaching assistant and also studied and taught advanced econometrics at the University of Copenhagen for a year. A competitive sailor in college and a tri-sport athlete at Nobles, Peter is an assistant coach for boys’ cross-country and a JV coach for alpine skiing.
