One-Week Programs for Pre-High School Students
Looking for something engaging this summer?
Pre-HS programs, designed for rising 6th-8th graders, are packed with hands-on activities that balance fun with high-level learning material to ignite an interest in STEM. Programs allow kids to explore new topics outside the boundaries of a typical classroom. Programs end at 3:30 pm, with the option to stay until 5 pm, as well as an opportunity to stay overnight – perfect for families seeking flexibility and a mix of summer activities.

CHEMISTRY OF COOKING
Have you ever wondered how combining a few simple ingredients such as eggs, flour, and sugar can transform into a delicious cake through the magic of an oven? Well, it’s not magic, it’s chemistry! Students learn the science behind cooking through hands-on activities in the kitchen. In the process, they learn the parallels between preparing a recipe and bringing up compounds to create a final product! Students will develop knowledge of chemistry and science that can lead them towards a career in chemistry while also developing practical skills in the kitchen.

MINI MED SCHOOL
Hey future doctor, get your stethoscope ready! Mini Med School is now in session. We’ll dive into various areas, focusing on new subject areas every day. What makes up a routine check up? How do you test a patient’s reflexes? After this, we’ll move on to more specific specialties. We’ll go from top to bottom, starting with Neuroscience. We’ll continue through the body, covering orthopedics, oncology, genetic diseases, and more. This fast-paced and hands-on program sold out last summer!

PET MEDICINE
Students learn through hands on activities and practice skills that are required to diagnose and treat injuries and illness in pets. Students have the opportunity to perform mock surgeries, set bones, and research common afflictions such as rabies, and distemper.

HANDS-ON PHYSICS
Learn about physics on a deeper level by getting hands-on! In this course, you will explore the laws of physics through interactive experiments and projects. You may launch bottle rockets, do the egg drop experiment, build bridges to hold heavy objects, and much more!

ASTRONOMY
From ancient astronomy to satellites to star birth to telescopes, this course covers the fundamentals of astronomy and beyond. If you’ve always wondered what’s out there and how it works, this is the perfect course for you! Get hands-on with astronomical models, chart the stars, and discover the cosmos in this exciting one-week course.

MARINE BIO: AQUARIUM
As you help plan for and assemble the aquariums, you will become fluent in what constitutes an ecosystem. What fish are aggressive and what fish are community members? What are the differences in anatomy of freshwater and saltwater fish, and what are characteristics of aquarium plants that thrive in different conditions and why? You will get your creative juices flowing, designing your own renderings of dream aquariums for home and museum display. You may create touch tanks, as well. Through hands-on work, teens will gain substantial cross-disciplinary scientific knowledge, all while having fun!

Do you have ideas to create the next best product on the market? Do you think you have what it takes to convince investors to believe in your product? Learn how you can make your dream a reality with Junior Shark Tank. Students will propose a business plan and create a presentation that they will pitch to a group of “investors.”
