Psychology Research

Three-Week Summer Medical Program

The Psychology Research program will cover the fascinating world of mental illness: origins, symptoms, and treatment. Students will understand the onset of disorders across varying age groups and genders. Students will gain an understanding of the major forms of mental disorders including: Autism, Schizophrenia, Phobias, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Depression, Eating Disorders, and Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity. Students will learn about the specific defining characteristics of the different disorders, physical and facial markers (where relevant), and social and emotional corollaries.

Two years’ professional experience in residential schools for children with Autism

Professional experience at McLean Hospital, psychiatric affiliate of Harvard Medical School

Research experience exploring OCD-like behavior in rats, technology-based interventions for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and communication as it relates to restraints in an inpatient psychiatric hospital.
